Queen Formica subsericea
Hi every one, so 4 Days ago I caught 6 Formica subsericea queens then the next day I caught 7 and the next 1. After catching these queens I decided to put them all together in one test tube set up, as they are a polygynous species of ant. 2 days later and a few queens have shedded their wings and put them in a very neat pile and there is a large, large batch of about 30 eggs! Im going to check on these queens every three days or so, and I’m going to start a journal on them.
Also what should I name them?

Be wary of dominant queens, as some people say as colonies start to grow some queens are killed off.

I’m actually fine with that as the queens that will be killed off will most likely be the ones that I think are unfertilized

Unfertilized ones are typically killed when workers arrive… what I am saying is, make sure they always have plenty of room so they don’t dissemble their “extra” queens.

I have also decided that I’m going to make the journal on a different thread.

Moved Topic to Journal Section
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.
