Three niantics now. It's so fun watching them. Queen is being very protective of them. She lunges if I move to fast and scare her.

Up to 7 nanitics now.

I gave them some blue colored sugar water last night so I could see if they are eating anything, no signs of blue gasters. They don't seem to be leaving the test tube yet. I have a test tube portal attached and that is where I'm putting food. I tried humming bird nectar, crushed rolly-polly, and sugar water. Are they still ok feeding from the queen or should I try to put food in the rest tube? I have some protein jelly coming in the mail soon.

Re: Prenolepis Imparis journal
Food in the tube always ends badly… also, for this species do not let them take food in the tube . So give them things larger than they can carry, so they don’t let the food mold in the tube killing eggs as they are laid.GyneNoob wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 6:13 amUp to 7 nanitics now.

Thank you. I gave them an old raspberry, and a rolly polly. No interest at all. They won't leave the test tube and go into the test tube portal. I assume when they get hungry they'll finally venture out.

Re: Prenolepis Imparis journal
Usually when you aren’t around, and the rally Polly they may not attack as sometimes they leave decomposes be. It’s best to offer a dead cricket or something, or maybe even a grape. My Camponotus first food was a grape…
Things that can be fed live are fruit flies(flightless or wingless). It does take the ants a few weeks to get the hang of small prey hunting, so they may go crazy when hunting. Fruit flies usually do not mold with large ants, as they are used fairly quick.

Re: Prenolepis Imparis journal
The Rolly polly was dead. I received the sunburst ant nectar and some protein powder mix last week. I put some at the opening of the test tube and it didn't take long for them to siff it out and Start slurping it up.

Here's a picture from this past Sunday, July 24th https://photos.app.goo.gl/QySxhsG3LX1FqLyr8
And here is a video from today, about 4 new workers since yesterday. I can count about 17 workers now.

Really excited. They are still not venturing out of the tube. I gave them two spider legs the other day and put them just outside the test tube in the connection piece on the the test tube portal. They did pull them into the test tube but not very far.

New video of today. Only 3 pupa left. Queen still has her wings. There are 2 piles of new eggs that showed up during the last week.
