First polygynous colony
Its my lucky day! Was working in my family's garden and moved a stone and under was what I believe are brachymyrmex with a ton of brood. And then " omg there she is" the queen was just on the soil so I scooped her up with as much brood and workers as I could. I couldn't help but think that's a lot of brood for this lil queen and I glanced at the stones underside and there were 3 more queens . After I make a small nest and separate out some soil ill take some pics
Re: First polygynous colony
Congrats! I have 20 brachymyrmex depilis, 14 in one tube and 6 in another. Looking forwards to pics. I might be able to tell you if the are brachymyrmex depilis

Re: First polygynous colony
Went to hobby lobby last night and made a new nest for the polygynous colony.
I put the new queens right into the new nest today ( btw 5 now found another with the brood I scooped ) and connected it to a temporary container I used to put the extra soil with the brood and workers in it. Covered the new nest to make it dark, and spread the soil out and shined a light on the temp container. A good few hours later and they have moved most of the brood in.

Got home from work today and checked the progress and looks like they are all moved in.
Idk what these workers are doing out here just plugging the entrance I guess

Re: First polygynous colony
I was doing some research today trying to identify these and now I'm thinking they are possibly temnothorax which are known to have polygynous species but idk if I am right
