Hello,
i had asked earlier in the week if formica ants are typically fully claustral, and got told they were. I then placed the queen into a test tube about 3 days ago and decided to check on her. All she has done so far is pull at the cotton. Is there a chance she is of the formica species that is a social parasite? if so, how do you raise a colony with her properly?

An ID is a very important step to determining that.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.
