I just caught a formica queen, and I have a few questions.
1) are the semi or fully claustral?
2)is one queen enough to start a colony?
Thank you!!

1) Formica queens are fully claustral
2) yes, one queen is definitely enough to start a colony. I wouldnt try to put more than one queen together

The social parasites from the rufa, microgyna, sanguinea, and exsectioides groups are all social parasites, but the fusca, pallidefulva, and neogagates groups are all claustral.

In that case, just put her into a test tube set up and into the drawer for a week or two and see what happens?

TLDR: The social parasites are social parasites.
