During last nuptial flight I caught a Camponotus cf. semitestaceus queen. I have her I a test tube but she still hasn't layed a egg. I am beginning to worry. If any can help....
Thank you

she should lay if you have her in the dark and check on her once a week

The Camponotus species I have had have been slow to lay. A lot of them took over a month to finally lay eggs. The Camponotus queen I have now was caught on April 21st. And I just noticed today that she has larvae. Not sure when the eggs were layed but it has been within the last ten days. She will lay when she is ready. I had about giving up on several queens in my first ant season, then they layed a bunch of eggs.
