Mold In My Test Tube

Post: # 33697Post TripySquid

Hello
I am a new ant keeper. I have a queen and about 15-20 ants in the test tube. When I bought them from a GAN farmer the cotton they were on was all black with mold. They are suppose to be hibernating but they have all the mold and are low in water. I’ve tried putting a light on them and attaching another test tube in the dark for about 2 days. What should I do?

How close it the light to the test tube they are in? Make a cover for the fresh test tube so it is dark and move the light close to the old tube so a little heat is applied to the tube. Once they feel the heat and the bright tube they will start to move into the new dark tube. Just make sure you don't get the light too close to the tube or you'll cook (over heat) them. Some ants are stubborn when moving, give them time and they will.
