Odd Fire Ant Behavior

So Recently I Had A Brillant Idea..Went Something Like This.
  • Catch Female Alates From Various Colonies
    Catch Males From Various Colonies
    Steal Workers From A Colony
    Mix Them Together
    Profit
Although...
It Went Right..Somewhat
The Alates Mated.....
Except One...
I Noticed The Ants SWARMING And Grooming Her..
2 Days Pass
That One That Was Swarmed Dies.Although They Still SWARM And Groom Her Leaving All Other 9 Queens With Like 4 Or 5 Workers Per...Here's The Logic
Tends To One Dead Queen
Leaves Alone Fertile Queens To Die

Idea's? :D

This could have worked if you separated the queens after they mated, but with no workers, but it likely would not have gone as well as catching an actual nuptial queen. :?
Hibernating: (all)

Parasitic Lasius:2

Founding:
Tetramorium Immigrans:2

Colonies:
Tetramorium Immigrans:1
Formica Spp:3

I'm new to ant keeping so my colonies are all still in test tubes. :?

I doubt they actually mated. Mating ants in captivity just doesn't work in most cases. Some people claim to have done it, but I am pretty skeptical.
Proverbs 6:6-8

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

I still doubt it. Sometimes queens will rip off their wings and lay eggs that don't develop, or they do develop into useless male drones. Keep us posted.

Here's my idea of an ant breeding setup people have gotten pretty close to needing ants in captivity e.g. there captive ant colony's produce queens and males but ant colonies will not inbreed so eventually the unmated queens/males die so I thought if you put two ant colonies in one large aquarium with a divider in the middle that goes partway up the inside of the aquarium the ant colonies can smell each other but not fight each other then come mating season the males / queens in both colonies can fly up and mate then fly back down and their keeper can try to pick as many as they can before their one ant colonies kill them
