Do you have a garage? basement? crawlspace? Shed? all those places work well for hibernation.
Proverbs 6:6-8

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

hmm. I've heard that it is bad to hibernate outside. but question for other somewhat experienced ant keepers: would it be possible to wrap them in a towel and place them in a cardboard box to keep the snow off and set them outside?
