When and how without fridge

Hey I’m keeping some colony’s in test tubes (ones in plastic test tube and other in glass test tube) and I’m from Illinois, should I be hibernating them it’s usally around 40f to 20f degrees in the winter. I also need to know how to hibernate them without a fridge/mini fridge. And yes I own a fridge but it’s packed with food and I can’t fit them in it.

Also on the nest and fourmicarium page I have a topic if you guys can check it out (it’s the “plastic naturalistic” one)
Keeping:
Formica subsericea: 10 workers
Tetramourium Immigrans: 12 workers
solenopsis molesta: 25-30 workers

I use my garage. this only works if your garage is not heated. I hear you can also use an attic or crawlspace. You should hibernate your ants when your local ants start hibernating. When you stop seeing ants outside, stick them into hibernation. Bring them out again when you see ants outside in spring.
Proverbs 6:6-8

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

Keeping Tetramorium immigrans, Tapinoma Sessile
