Ant died while harvesting a cricket. (Prenolepis Imparis)

She is dead, and stuck very firmly to the cricket. (Store bought)

It appears the other ants have collected the liquid from her gastor as well.

Anyone know what might have caused this?

The cricket was mostly frozen when I initially placed it in the feeding area, but later that day there were no issues, I found her when I was cleaning out the bits of cricket left over when I came home after the weekend.

It is a relatively small colony in it's first year with only one queen and ~ 20 workers.

Thanks for the help.
