Hi AC fam... so i got my first queen, a nice big black carpenter ant. I put her in a nice dark drawer. Just peeked in on her tonight and she still has her wings attached and is just pulling the cotton apart but has not escaped..... Thoughts? not mated? i know she needs time, and may even hybernate before making eggs but she seems bound and determined to get out.

They all do this. She is probably a little stressed, so leave her alone for a week (no checking). she might also just be trying to make it more comfortable.RaveLuth wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2017 9:50 pmHi AC fam... so i got my first queen, a nice big black carpenter ant. Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.
