Pheidole Ant Problem
I recently got a Pheidole spp. colony that I found in a small log while it was Storming outside, I put it in a 5 Gal. container with Petroleum jelly barrier 2-inch. They first came out to explore and I offered them some honey and crushed cashews. The next day they were on top of the container (past the barrier) Crawling around everywhere so I tried Baby power mixed with Alcohol, Same thing happened (also tried just Baby power). I don't know what to use as a barrier they have crossed all the barriers I am available to. Anyone know what they cant pass? Also don't know what type of Pheidole they are, Workers are very small and hard to see while the majors are huge.
