Pheidole habitat

I have pheidole ants and I want to make a natural habitat for them . Do they like a bunch of vegetation or do they like open areas ? Plz feel free to suggest plants , soil type , bugs that ants don't hunt . I was thinking about worms , pill bugs , and spring tails . Also how do you get aphids to move in or catch them ?

Ok ,If I put spring tails and pill bugs in the natural set up would the ants kill them ?
