I keep my colonies' test tubes in clear plastic food containers with an air hole in the lid. When I need to change a test tube, I put the fresh one in beside the old one. They will move when they want and that way I don't have to worry about it.

Honestly, if you want to move them quick a reptile heating cable does the trick. Place it near the pupae, eggs and expose the nest to light. I'm starting a new tetramorium colony with just with 9 workers and I moved them from a test tube to a little formicarium within a day. It'll take way longer naturally. But if you have the time there's nothing wrong with that.

um... I would be very careful with that tactic. They can die in a blink of an eye if exposed to too much heat.

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.
