Test Tube Sanitation?

I'm using plastic test tubes and cotton balls like most everyone else for starting my queens. What is the best way to ensure that both the test tubes and cotton balls are sterile and less likely to develop mold in the future?
Would rubbing alcohol or bleach be too strong? What does everyone around here like to do?

I'm pretty sure no one sterilizes the cotton balls. To sterilize a tube all you gotta do is put it in some boiling water.

Just wash your hands before you make a test tube. That's usually enough to prevent most of the mold.
Do not use any desinfecting chemicals.
