I only caught 1 B. Dipilis queen and she died. Under many rocks outside i see small colony's on them with about 15-20 workers anda pile of brood. What i want to know is would it be okay to catch them and put them in a test tube. I would obviously take there queen to.
With all the things ants can do, you wonder, who rules the planet :?

The nuptial flights are definitely not over yet; many species will be flying from now into October. Keep an eye out for Brachymyrmex, Lasius, Crematogaster, Ponera, Myrmica, and Formica.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.
