Hey I have two Formica fusca queens that I caught, I love both queens and don't want to sell one because I can only care for one colony, should I merge or will they kill each other. Also I'm assuming they spray formic acid because their name, Formica?

Here is what Mikey's book says:
Queen: In captivity, pleometrotic and possibly polygynous via oligogyny, however safest and best kept singly. Fully claustral.

In other words what cartil is trying to say is that they might fight each other or they might get along Formica are unpredictable in this situation

If you decide to merge watch them closely especially when they have their workers if they fight have another test tube setup ready for the losing queen so she won't die dump them out

Most Formica can be polygynous. Just make sure that their setup is large enough and their food/sugar water supply is sufficient, so they decide that they can afford to keep both queens.

AntsCanada made a video a few years ago and I thing he tried to merge Formica fusca . He had 2 different pairs of Formica fusca in 2 different test tube and both pairs ended up fighting .
