My nanatics just arrived today for my Tetra queen. They are tan, not black. I was wondering if this is because they are new born or because there is something wrong.
Colonies:
--Tetramorium Caespitum
--Camponotus pennsylvanicus
--Formica Sp.

It's probably just because they were just born. But we won't be able to know for sure unless there are some pics ya know.

I'll get some in a bit. And should newborn fanatics be smaller than what I would see in nature? In other words, do ants grow quite a bit?

Yeah. The first nanitics are always smaller.

Nanitics are light (it's called tallow) when they are born. are ants are this way, and they will darken over the next couple days. The first nanitics will be smaller because they were raised on the queens muscle stores alone. After they begin foraging, the next "generation" of sisters will be bigger. Once hatched, they will not grow any, but their younger sisters will be bigger.
Proverbs 6:6-8

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.
