First queen, new to ant keeping. Recently caught a Formica sp queen. Normal test tube setup connected to a test tube portal. Counted 6-8 eggs. I put a drop of honey in portal today.
Aside from waiting and what I am currently doing...
Is there anything else I should know?
How long will it take for the eggs to reach full grown worker?
What is my next step? <- I assume the next step is to move them into a bigger setup after there is a certain amount of workers.
Any advice is welcome!

Re: Next step?
Se won't forage. When workers come, they will forage, but there is no point in feeding her now. When you have 20-50 workers, you can move them into a bigger setupMjml87 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2017 10:16 pmFirst queen, new to ant keeping. Recently caught a Formica sp queen. Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

Thank you! Not my best judgment, but I did disconnect the portal for now and *** SPAM *** the test tube. Hopefully I was gentle enough as to not stress her out.
