How should I introduce males?

Post: # 24280Post CreeperUniverse

I have an Odontomachus alate. She needs drones. They fly almost every day, but yesterday I gave her the wrong ones. It's not even their flight, will be in a few hours, but I already found the correct males. She's in an outworld with sand to dig in. Once I see them flying, can I just dump 'em in, and wait?
Thanks.

Are these Odontomachus males to check though?

You can't this queen will kill them. She's acting "unmated" because she's been taken from her chamber where she was likely caring for her brood.

I don't really think so. She was an alate that I caught in their flight. There were multiple queens flying around, she was one of them. She attacked once again, though. I'll assume she mated. I'm keeping her outside, on a balcony, because we have air conditioning.

They will not mate unless its in a flight with the right pheremones in the air.

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

But it was...and I've seen people mate them in containers too. Strange.

It CAN work but it's difficult. Also your queen may already be mated.
