Re: Photos of my ant colonies
wait... have you mixed colonies? Why are the red ants attacking the black queen?
Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

A cohort is a group of individuals with something in common, so the cohort to an ant queen is a group of workers which constantly pamper and attend to her. When the queen is significantly larger than her workers, they walk all over her. I'm thinking this is a Carebara sp.? The Oecophylla is being treated similarly.xTNxANTMANx wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2017 5:00 pmWhat do you mean exactly?Batspiderfish wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2017 2:52 pmThat's the queen's cohort.idahoantgirl wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2017 1:35 pmwait... have you mixed colonies? When our colonies get large enough, it will be difficult to find the queens engulfed underneath workers.

Ah ok. I gotcha now. Wish I had a cohort of workers to pamper and attend to all my needs. My wife just isn't cutting it lol. Yes, they are daughters, not attacking the queen.
It`s Carebara melasolena, very beautiful and rare sp. of Carebara in China.

I love those Pheidole colonies as well. I'll be very lucky if I find that genus in my state. They exist just outside of my border. Great pictures!
