I know that it is preferably 20-50, but I heard on AntsCanada video that you can have a minimum of 10 workers if you want when moving them.idahoantgirl wrote: ↑Sat Jun 17, 2017 10:08 pmSo I thought I'd let you know that 10 workers is a very low number. It's quite dangerous to move a colony of that size into a nest. It's actually recommended that 25 be the minimum. 25-50 is a safe range to introduce a young colony into a nest.Aquaexploder wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2017 5:59 am
You can move them from there test tube when they have at least 10 workers.

I know that I saw that video as well, but the fact is that especially for this species, you want to give them the best possible chances. In general, just so you don't accidentally mess someone up, you should not say 10 workers. 20-50 is a much safer and more helpful number to give people. Even if they might want it to be 10, that doesn't mean that it is a safe thing to doAquaexploder wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2017 5:59 amI know that it is preferably 20-50, but I heard on AntsCanada video that you can have a minimum of 10 workers if you want when moving them.
Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

So, I'm a new member here and just picked up a couple queens today. One has one wing still, the other still has both. I will try to get pictures soon to get a positive ID, but as far as I can tell, they are P. Imparis. Which seems kind of strange to me considering the time of year I collected them (Sept 17, 2019) in Port Hope, Ontario. To anyone who is experienced, is there any other species that looks like these that I may be mistaking them for?
I collected them separately but after reading this topic, I also put them together in the same test tube. They have been together for about 10 mins so far and seem to be ignoring each other for the most part.
