Hi all,
So, I have this formica fusca queen which I have in a tube. I've looked around, and she should be hibernated between 5 and 12C (41F and 54F). I live in the northern parts of Sweden, and we get ~-25C (-10F) at winter.
I've put her in my refrigerator and put it on almost max, so it's constantly 8-9C (46F-47F). I've checked upon her about once a week for 2 weeks now, but she doesn't seem to be wanting to go to sleep.
She just sits on the cotton with the water on it. I did feed her some honey before putting her away.
Is this normal? Should I just keep on waiting?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Anton

Hibernation occurs while just being in the cold. Your queen is doing what she is supposed to be doing.
