Nuptial flight of captive colony
I recently dug up a colony of very small ants in my yard (outside of Chicago il) with the hopes I got the queen and a few days ago I started to see many winged ants but my set up doesn't leave enough room for them to fly out and I also keep it in the garage so I real don't want them flying around in there. What can happen if I don't let them fly out?

Re: Nuptial flight of captive colony
Don't worry nothing will happen if they don't fly out its kinda rare for captive elates to do nuptial flight they will just. Not do the flight usually they would not do flight in captivity and sometimes they would just break off there wings and become workers but if the flight happens and make sure to catch them and see if you can breed them I did it once and it worked but it's kinda hard for it to happen but don't worry about anything the odds of captive ants to do flight is low
