Hello!
Recently I've purchased a Lasius Hybrid Nest from the AntsCanada website. It came with the formicarium of course, a test tube (thanks for the test tube! Didn't know it came with one!), a portal, and a plastic bag half-full of small white clusters. Are these just packaging material I haven't seen before or is it what I use to water my ants, or something else? If an image is needed please let me know.
Thank you!
What is this part?

It's perlite, it's used for water hydrating, my ants like cotton more than the perlite though.

Yes Perlite. It can be used in the base of the Hybrid nest to help retain moisture. You would place it in the larger of the two compartments in the base. As mentioned, cotton can be used as well.
