Hello, everyone! I want a Lasius Hybrid Nest Small for one of my many expected Lasius colonies for the upcoming Spring. I also would like to purchase a heating cable as well to go with it. what would be a good heating cable? Has anyone had experience with any heating cable and how has it worked? Thank you for any help! :)

This is a good one that works well with AntsCanada Hybrid Nests:

https://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Reptile-Cable-11-5-Feet/dp/B001LQUZAM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1483037257&sr=8-2&keywords=zoomed+heat+cable
I ordered a Hybrid nest a couple weeks ago and also ordered this heating cable. Just wanted to confirm. We can just run the cable through the heating port and leave it one 24/7. I'm assuming the nest accounts for the approximate average temperature the cable gives off and you don't need to control the cable temperature via a thermostat controller??

That is how I have used the 15W heating cable (w/o a thermostat) and I haven't had any trouble. The ants will locate themselves and the brood where they feel comfortable.
