Hi guys,

I've been reading about ants lately, and from what I can see you cannot tell what a larva will become, a queen, worker or drone.. from there the larva turns into a pupae through metamorphosis. And that is starts becoming distinguishable. But I haven't seen this for myself and googling that doesn't provide answers.

What I'd like to know when an larva has become a pupae, can you see what it will be ?

Depends on a lot of things. Generally I would say no. Some pupae may be larger but this just might indicate you have a major or super. polymorphic. Queens and males can also be larger as well. I don't know of any way to identify them in pupae stage.

I am sure you will get more info from people who know more than I do.
