I'm looking for a little help raising my Lasius queens.
I found 1 queen on 8/19 and 2 more on 9/05. They have not laid any eggs yet.
I think they are all Lasius and I found them all in more or less in the same place. My ants were caught in the New York Tri-State area. I have them in test tubes in my closet. I do have some questions though.
Will these ants be okay living in my closet through the winter having found them so late in the season?
Should I move them so they can hibernate in the next month of two?
Can I expect that they will lay eggs soon and then hibernate?
Can I just leave them in my closet so they stay at room temperature until they do their own thing naturally?
Pics I took today.

Re: Lasius Queen Questions???
Most fall-flying Lasius need to overwinter before they will lay eggs.
