I have been very into ants for a while and recently decided to try the ant keeping hobby myself. I went queen hunting recently and found both Pogonomyrmex sp. and Dorymyrmex insanus queens.
My question would be does anybody recommend keeping either of these species as a first ant colony?
And are there any tips you guys might have to help me be successful in raising my queen and her colony?
(By the way the dorymyrmex is fertilized without a doubt but the pogonomyrmex I'm still not sure)

The first one you mentioned is quite easy according to my friend over in america. That should be your first colony
