Re: Black ants
Cool, what time of day do you suggest looking for ants and what type are really common here?
Re: Black ants
I saw on one of your other posts that you said you were 14. I am 13 and soon to be 14. Are you a part of gan or going to soon be part of it???
Re: Black ants
1. Yes I am 14
2. Solenopsis are super common here, and can be found usually during the day (I look underneath leaf piles against the curb on the road and find tons of Solenopsis!) Edit: I also catch many pogonomyrmex, but their nuptial flights are not as common as solenopsis
3. I will hopefully join GAN this month and I will TOTALLY sell you some queens! :D

Re: Black ants
There's a TON of "tiny black ant" species - Lasius, Tetramorium, Iridmyrmex, certain Pheidole species (most are yellow but some are black), Temnothorax, etc.
The only thing I can assure is that they are NOT Camponotus, because Camponotus are not tiny - even the small Camponotus species grow easily to 1cm in length, the bigger ones are 1.4-2cm or even larger.
