3 days ago i caught a prenolepis imparis queen and have a few questions.
What do they like to eat(protein, sugars)?

How long until she will lay eggs?

Do they like their nests to be moist, damp or in the middle?

Thankyou!

  • 1. I believe sugars; protein is for the brood to develop.

    2. It varies.

    3. I believe they like a somewhat moist nest.

1. Honey, sugar water for sugars and I know that people have fed them wax worms - I've seen them in the wild eating earthworms and soil centipedes too.

2. I caught a dozen of these queens and I had no eggs after the first week, and at least 4 of them have piles of eggs now after the second week.

3. I haven't found a %, but it seems people say high so probably 60%+
