Best time to find queens?
Hi AC Family. Brand new to keeping ants. (dont actually have any yet) Not my first time keeping various insects and exotics tho. Im in eastern Pennsylvania. I'm really struggling finding a queen. Can anyone suggest the best time of day to go? Ive been going to a walking trail in the woods very close to a lake. But have had no luck. I appreciate any guidance. Thank you

The warmer the better. Try flipping up rocks, you might find a queen still in the founding stage.SitheV wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 6:20 pmHi AC Family. Brand new to keeping ants. Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

Thank you.. Did this work? I know the quality isnt great. Not sure if you can tell the species but can you confirm I have queens? They were in little dug out holes in a rotting log. Not other ants anywhere no eggs or anything yet

It says 404 error. You copied the link for sharing not the one from the browser right? I should be able to identify them.SitheV wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2023 12:04 pmhttps://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipOl3IYG7rzqs0LPELU0a7h9Be-xxI3cuITDjgN4
