Re: My Formica Queen

I heard from AntsCanada that their recommendation is 10-20 workers. I also have a formica queen like you and she's got 4 pupae that are close to hatching! I hope you have a successful colony :D! Thank you! I believe we've got 6 workers now. I'll do my best to wait until around 20 workers are around...

Ant-Move Requirements

My 5th ant has come. I have a small Omni Nest and a foraging ground for them. Is there a certain amount of ants I should have before putting their test tube in (Encourage them to move to the new nest)?

Re: Ant Spy-Camera

Funny you say that! I will be setting up a Cam on my ants once I get the new formicaria. The cam I am using has IR LED's built in so it can see in the dark (Image is B/W) so that shouldn't disturb the nest. It is a wireless WiFi cam that will be connected to my home network so I can look at it at a...

Ant Spy-Camera

I wish I could have a spy camera in an ant-nest. I'd like to watch the ants do their daily tasks up in personal from my computer. Does something like this exist? Or even a way to construct such a thing?

Re: Are any of us here married?

I'm married as of early this year. :) My wife asks me about my ants and wants to see them frequently.

Re: My Formica Queen

There are now 4 workers total. I'm very surprised that 3 workers emerged in just one day. I also gave them a spider to eat, as you can see in the image.

New Ant

My first worker ant has come out! I'm very excited and have not been able to stop myself from looking several times today. I bought a new heating cable to perhaps help give them the heat they normally have outside. Now that there is a worker, is it safe to put in a dead cricket? http://i.imgur.com/A...

Re: Do you have to use a Test Tube?

I would like to see pictures of this. Sounds like an interesting experiment. Has this proven to be successful so far?
