Dorymyrmex sp. journal
August 6, 2016 I keep creating new journals because I'm bored and don't know what else to do and I love this forum. This whole summer, I've been catching Dorymyrmex sp. queens but they always ended up dying whether it be from me accidentally squishing them or if they are infertile. They are fragile...

Re: First Brachymyrmex colony
Every time I check on these queens, their brood size is always larger than it was before. They are laying a lot of eggs! I still cannot tell if they have larvae yet since their eggs and everything is so tiny and hard to see. I feel like their first eggs would've definitely hatched by now, so maybe t...

Re: Crematogaster journal
Great! I have always wanted Crematogaster and I thought they only fly in August and September?? They usually fly in August and September, but where I live they actually flew in June. I saw one queen in early June but I was too busy at that moment and didn't catch it. Luckily, I saw a second queen i...

Re: Crematogaster journal
August 8, 2016 I checked on my Crematogaster queen yesterday hoping to see some pupae, and there is one! There might even be more by now though. This is so exciting, I can't wait to see little Crematogaster nantics running around! http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r609/astoll9/Mobile%20Uploads/IM...

Re: Solenopsis invicta egg to nantic time
My single queen laid her eggs on May 15 and had her nantics on June 21. Mine took long because they are kept at room temperature. Just know that sometimes they can take up to over a month, temperature affects their growth rate a lot!

Re: First Brachymyrmex colony
July 30, 2016 Since the last update, once again, the brood has at least doubled again, and maybe even tripled. I have discovered something strange though. Some eggs are yellow and most are white. The yellow ones could be just getting close to hatching, but I think I remember there always being yell...

Re: Crematogaster journal
My Crematogaster queen's larvae are pretty large now! Several look like they will be pupating soon based on their size. She still only has a few eggs, but she probably has between 10 and 15 larvae, with more than half of them being the largest. http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r609/astoll9/Mobile...

Re: Pseudomyrmex gracilis journal
So, in my last post 2 days ago, I said she escaped. This is the whole story: So when I caught this queen I made a semi-claustral setup for her to found her colony in. When I woke up the next morning, she had escaped but she was just sitting on the lid of her container so I was able to catch her and ...

They look a lot like Pheidole sp. in my opinion. That genus seems to be flying a lot lately, like in the past week or 2. I caught 3 last week
