Re: Queen in NY - Caught 6/23/2017
Tetramorium fits, but we'll need clear photos for an accurate ID.

Re: Found this ant, is it a queen?
Looks like a queen, fully claustral too, so she'll be fine with just water in a test tube. Yes, that hump is where her wings were. If you look closely there should be scars on the sides near the top, where she ripped them off. Can you try to get some clearer photos of her, from the side, top, and fr...

Re: Queen ID Please
Definitely looks like Camponotus. Can't say as to the species though.

Re: Queen Identification
I don’t have ruler that I know of but compared her size to a worker of a starting Tetramorium Immigrans worker and she is barely bigger than the workers. A small queen then, likely about 4mm. Unfortunately there are still dozens of genera to choose from given this information. We need clear detaile...

Re: Please help identify this Scottish ant
For a reliable ID we need better pictures and some extra information (see attached link). The best I can say right now is that it's possible this is a Camponotus worker, and most likely not a queen. But we need a length in mm and detailed close up images for better identification. Location of captur...

Re: Cute worker with a nasty sting
Got a better side profile shot.
This one also stung me so now my elbow hurts a lot. Apparently when they're angry but their target disappears they just sort of sit there in a blind rage so this one was easy to get photos of. I just wish I had my pro setup out here.

Re: Queen Identification
I'm not familiar with the species and it's really hard to identify any features. Are you able to provide pictures with detail? Also date and location are helpful.

Cute worker with a nasty sting
Once again I am curious about the local ants, and my ID key hasn't arrived in the mail yet. I took some pictures of one on my shirt. https://i.imgur.com/fQZouuo.jpg More pictures: https://imgur.com/gallery/eYw57S0 She's about 8mm long (judging by my belt loop in image 5 which is exactly 10mm wide) a...
