Re: Add another queen?

I have one colony of some sort of Nylanderia that has 7 workers, and is doing wonderfully, and one queen that just lost her last worker today. I don't want my queen to die, so all I can think of is just leaving her someone inside of something in the other ants' outworld and see if they accept her. ...

Could it be Formica rufibarbis?
I found pic with matching markings on thorax.
Definitely could be. Use antmaps.org to see if they live in your area though just to make sure.
EDIT: I checked, you guys have that, so will assume it is Formica rufibarbis.

Re: Need help moving ants to new test tube

Hi, I have a baby colony of Camponotus Hyatti in a test tube set up (one queen, four workers, and a bunch of eggs). I recently found mold on the cotton closest near the water and created a new test tube to move them into so they don't die. I connected the two tubes with some cotton and tape as a ma...

Re:

It was pretty warm. I turned off the space heater and placed the ants in a different position in the towel I wrapped them in, hoping that they would get more air circulation I guess. It appears to be working too, yesterday's catches were all still alive when I went to put away what I caught today, ...

Re: Weird Question about Fire ants

Yeah, I figure they moved to that area because we've been getting rains every day. Ugh, that's unfortunate :( I guess the search for one of the entrances is on. Thanks for the help ya'll Seal off areas where they could enter, and put Vaseline or PTFE around the mailbox near entrances, so they slip....

How long does it take for a Camponotus Pennsylvanicus to go from egg to worker? I read it takes 3 weeks for each stage of growth but im not sure if thats true or not
About two months on average. It varies though.
Might go faster after you stop getting nanitics, and get normal workers.

Tetramorium can found with multiple queens but in the end there can only be one.
Should i separate them?
Yes definitely! I've had trash luck finding queens. I keep going on vacation and missing them :( 2 years and I've missed all the queens I've wanted. Going to 3...
