When to expect a response?

I am in dire need of Camponatus because my Nylanderia just keep on escaping and I want something actually very fun to keep. I sent a request because someone here in NY had a colony with 6 workers of Camponatus novaboracensis . So I sent a request form a day ago and aren't seeing any responses. They ...

Re: Lasius neoniger not foraging…

1-2 fruit flies a week doesn't seem like anything. Those fruit flies are so small for a colony of around 25 workers. I feed my colony of 12 workers a mealworm a day and I know they don't eat it all in a day, but they are definitely getting more food than they would if I only fed them 1-2 fruit flie...

Re: ID

Guys just right click the little icon that represents a missing image and open it in a new tab. That works. I think it's Camponotus decipiens or Camponotus discolor . Could be Camponotus americanus too. Here is a list of all Indiana Camponotus if you wanna search through them: Camponotus americanus...

Aha, I assumed from your first post, that all formica are paracidic. I will check if rufibarbis is or is not.
thank you :-)
No no no, they are not. Most aren't actually. There are just a big amount of ones that are parasites.

Are Nylanderia polygynous?

Like, could I add a widowed queen to an already founded colony? Would it be accepted?

People used to say the same thing about the lifespan of Tapinoma sessile, but after people keep them they end up living much longer.
Hm, ok.

Re: Pharoh ants?

Any ants can be fun to keep. Also, I don't think this is true, but I believe I read somewhere that those queens only live a few months? :|
EDIT: I read something along the lines of: "The queens live as long as 39 weeks and can lay about 400 eggs. Workers only live up to 10 weeks."

Re: Workers and queen

Not really. They will just die, usually before the queen if they are starving, and then she'll be alone. Just like what happened yesterday to mine which I am thinking to offer to my other colony.

Re: Add another queen?

Nah, she was fine, then some workers died, then she got like another, then that one died. I didn't really do anything wrong, I just think she was an unlucky queen. Most fail, after all. After a few more opinions, I'll decide what to do. It would be sick to have 2 queens if that will work. She also ...
