Alright, firstly, get them into a test tube! Here is a tutorial on that!

Secondly, feed them really small drops of honey, preferably raw. If not, a small fresh piece of fruit would do well to.

It is is the genus Iridomyrmex. I am thinking that the species is Bicknelli, but I am not sure, as 17 mm is rather large for Iridomyrmex Bicknelli. Can you take a photo with a ruler beside?
