The biological clock makes them slow down, but without a drop in temperature, they won’t actually enter hibernation.

Washing Formicarium
So this week I've been trying to move in a tetramorium queen with her nanitics. Well today the queen left the formicarium and sadly curled up in a water test tube I had setup, and died. I believe it was due to stress. I wanted to clean out my formicarium just in case for my next try because I have o...

Re: Colorado Nupital Flights
I really wish I was 18 so I could sell my other tetramorium queen and nanitics I have in a test tube setup. I'm only 17 and I can drive but sadly I'm not an "adult" yet. The GAN project would be a good way for me to get rid of this starting tetramorium colony cause I'd hate to just throw it out in t...

Re: Dear AC pleeeeeeeeeaaaaase bring back the habitat nest burrow
Another downfall of the habitat nest is the manufacturing process. Now that AntsCanada has increased in popularity, they need to produce nests in large quantities and efficiently. The Omni nest is made from cut acrylic and the hybrid nests are 3D printed, making them easy to mass produce. I don't re...

Colorado Caught Queen
I caught a total of 3 queens the other day. I only took a picture of one because I'm almost certain they're all the same species. I am thinking they're tetramorium, but what do you guys think? I caught them on the sidewalk after a rainstorm.

Re: Colorado Nupital Flights
I caught 3 queens yesterday, that I'm thinking are tetramorium. I found them all just running around on the sidewalk in front of my house after it rained in the afternoon! Here's a picture I got of one. You can see she's already layed eggs.

Re: Colorado Nupital Flights
also the last picture is one of the wingless alates in a nonpermanant storage I had her in, I didn't know whether they had mated so I snatched a couple up just in case  :? :) Yeah there's really no way to tell if they are mated or not until their eggs hatch. You might've gotten some mated que...

Re: Colorado Nupital Flights
I haven't seen anything, maybe still a bit cold for nuptial flights. It's been around 60°F where I am.

Re: Colorado Nupital Flights
It is very difficult to dig up a colony and actually get the queen and alive. I'd just advise waiting for nuptial flights. I think it's cooler to watch a queen develop her colony from the beginning personally.

New Hybrid Nests Coming?
Just wanted to check on the progress of the new hybrid nests. I was told they were going to start releasing the new models early March but I haven't seen anything yet.
