Re: idea

Sorry madhayardan. I'm not sure what you are getting at. I don't understand what your idea is. I think he's saying that you could put some workers of the species you want to make a hybrid nest for in a gelfarm, observe how they make their nests, how the chambers look, etc, and try to replicate that...

Re: idea

Gel farms have been known to kill colonies. There is something toxic about them that is not healthy for ants. They are not for long term ant keeping, only short term. Colonies will die in gel farms. i mean like we have a test subject worker then they dig in gelfarm do they dig normally in the wild ...

Re: Eggs Won't Develop

I would say give it more time. I caught my Lasius Neoniger queens back in July and it took nearly a month before I noticed any change. Alienus species is extremely similar. They like Neoniger, are also sensitive to light. A lot of times, the queen will cover the young larvae with more eggs making i...

Eggs Won't Develop

It's been 23 days since I first saw that all my Lasius alienus queens have lain eggs, and not a single egg has developed. I see my queens laying more eggs, but they just won't develop. I'm keeping them in a shoebox in the dark on the top of my closet. They are at room temperature. Is this normal for...

Re: Help!!!

Separate the workers from the alates. Then separate the male alates from the female alates. I don't know why you would take workers and put them in the same container as the alates.

When I went walking with my mom and captured a Jerusalem cricket thinking it was a cool type of Lasius species. Or when I caught two tiny Ceretina sp. bees (aka small carpenter bees) thinking they were of the Camponotus species.
😂 Sounds like something I would do.
Haha lol
