Re: Feedback request for homemade vertical ant frame
Funny you should mention this idea. Just last week we started discussing the possibility of a glass, upright formicarium (ala Uncle Milton style, but much more classy). A couple of issues so far: 1. We want it fully enclosed except the top. So all surfaces would be glass. This creates a drainage pro...

Re: AC Outworld Portals?
The AC Outworld instruction manual, a PDF document that you can access from the AntsCanada.com web site, outworld page, shows what it comes with. I see on the All You Need Hybrid Nest pages it says Outworld Plus 2 AC Outworld Portals. I believe it should say 2 AC Plugs or just nothing at all. The Ou...

Re: Hybrid Nest Mini 2.0 for Brachymyrmex patagonicus?
The Hybrid Nest series has 0.25mm hydration holes. I know of one customer who discovered that there was one of the hundreds of holes that was slightly larger, perhaps a manufacturing defect. He had some small ants and they escaped through that one hole. There are also two larger holes under the glas...

Re: New Antkeeper
Welcome to the forums! Like the ants, we tend to slow down a bit here as winter approaches . Tip #1: You gotta be patient. New colonies take a long time to develop.

Re: Hybrid nest 2.0 heating cable
Whatever you have been doing looks great! The colony is developing nicely. I think the key with heat is to make sure there is a heat gradient in the nesting space. This gives the ants the ability to place brood in the ideal temperature. Maybe you could run the cable over or under the test tube porta...

Looks like Tetramorium to me but Tetramorium usually fly in the Spring, not the Fall. Lasius usually fly in Fall.

Re: How long to ship?
We have a part-time staff that does the packaging and shipping of all AntsCanada orders. We don't get enough daily orders to "mobilize the troops" every day for packaging and shipping, so we package and ship once a week, usually Wednesday/Thursday. Once the order is packaged and shipped, it would mo...

Re: Looking for more established colony - Utah
I'm a GAN farmer on the GAN project. I have a few Camponotus and a few Formica with brood along with a bunch of new Tetramorium and Pogonomyrmex queens. I live in Salt Lake valley (Bluffdale).
