Here is a shot of the only ants I saw while in Maui. I didn't do a whole lot of searching, but the little searching I did do, I only found this species at Black Sand Beach in Maui. Anybody know what species it is? They were really cool looking. I wanted to find a queen and try raising some of my own...

What is that you are feeding them?

It isn't a requirement, but I would add some sand and/or very small wood chips/bark. It allows the ants to do a little design work on the nest for themselves. They will block off areas, plug air holes, minimize entrance size, etc.

What species do you have?

Many species fly a day or so after rain storms. Any rain in the forecast?

My guess is that it is not a queen, due mainly to the size of the thorax.

Yes the Hybrid Nests are 3D printed. They were all designed by AntsCanada staff and are printed in our manufacturing facility. I suspect your library will at a minimum charge you for the use of the plastic filament right? Do you know if there is someone there who will help you get your model printed...
