Re: Do Ants Need Sunlight to Survive?

I don't think light is necessary for the ants to live, but it does make them think they are in a more natural area and then they'll maybe respond more naturally on things they encounter.

I'm not sure of this all, cause I'm not an expert. So don't take this too seriously.

myrmica queen found outside her own nest

I was looking, for once again, at one of the nests in my garden today when I suddenly saw a queen walk out of the nest. She walked about four meters away from her nest and didn't seem to return to her nest. Ok, so first of all: most of the myrmica species are polygynous, so there would normally be m...

identifaction(offcourse) of three different species

So I'm again someone who asks for identification. I myself think that these are all lasius workers. But I can't seem to find what the subspecies of each one is. I got pictures of one ant or two ants from the same colony(3 different groups). It's for something very important. And there is a possibili...

Re: cotton stuck in test tube

It's ok. You don't have to answer. I already got it out myself with a satay stick.

cotton stuck in test tube

I want to get my ants out of hibernation, but I'm stuck with a problem and don't know what to do? The piece of cotton that you first put in if you want to make a test tube setup has sunk all to the bottom because the queen drank all the water and now I can't get it out because I actually already hav...

Re: I need help on my queen ant.

Isn't like also the 'belly' of a lasius flavus queen a little bit yellow. I have caught a queen like this and it also has a yellow 'belly' while my other lasius queens are whole black, so maybe that's the big characteristic for knowing it's lasius flavus.
