Re: I need help on my queen ant.

Isn't like also the 'belly' of a lasius flavus queen a little bit yellow. I have caught a queen like this and it also has a yellow 'belly' while my other lasius queens are whole black, so maybe that's the big characteristic for knowing it's lasius flavus.

Re: My myrmicinae queen found in belgium, Ghent on 10/08/2017

If the ants don't feel the need to move, they probably don't have to. I always like to start hibernation with a fresh tube as well though, so if worst comes to worst, you could tap them into the other tube. Not recommended, kinda risky, but if you really want her to change the tubes before hibernat...

Re: My myrmicinae queen found in belgium, Ghent on 10/08/2017

Hey, I'm back with another problem: I have a well-doing lasius niger colony caught this summer and I'm trying to move their colony to another tube because the other tube is not really clean and it's for hibernation and I'm really trying my best like, I use a lamp to shine on them every evening for a...

Re: My myrmicinae queen found in belgium, Ghent on 10/08/2017

The reason that people don't always reply is because of a few reasons: 1. Most of the people on this forum are newbies and can't answer your questions as they are still figuring out everything themselves. Most prople leave the forum after learning all the basics. Only some stay after to help out ot...

Re: My myrmicinae queen found in belgium, Ghent on 10/08/2017

So uhm guys I kept feeding her with fruit flies and I also put some Sugar-water in the outworld. But she won't lay eggs and I don't know what's the problem. I know she has mated because I found her while mating. So that's not the problem. And I only look at her after two weeks, so stress also isn't ...

Re: Can anyone identifie the type of ant species in South Africa?

Ok first: the queen is smaller becuase it's from the family Myrmicinae, those are small queens.
And you don't have to quote, I'll notice whenever you write something new. :D

Re: Can anyone identifie the type of ant species in South Africa?

Yeah, you got a queen!!!!! :D :D
But better don't putt the queen and the worker in the same container.
I thought it was a Pheidole sp. , so I'm gonna research that species. But for batspiderfish and Phoenix:
If you read this, can you please identify this species for this person. Thank you. :)

Re: Solenopsis fugax queens

Well, isn't it good they don't care about eachother because doesn't it mean that if they care about eachother it's in a bad way?

I don't really know for sure, but I think you must be happy they don't care about eachother.

Glad to help, Brentywenty.
