Re: Ants Discord?

Hey all, just wondering whether the community has a Discord server or not? Would be a great way to socialize! Yep, I run an actively moderated discord server about ants & ant-keeping, we're almost at 500 members and would love to have you join :) Here is the link: https://discord.gg/ZXFTVzD LOL it'...

Re: Feeding first nanitics?

Success on the move from test tube to Formicarium. The queen now has 9 Nanitics and lots of eggs that I can watch constantly due to red acetate covering the nest. I have a tube running from the nest to the out world and in the out world I have a water/cotton wool test tube for their water and a pla...

It's weird because the colony split up and 6 ants take care of the eggs in the test tube and the rest took care of the queen and other brood in the formicarium.
Yeah, that is very odd. Hopefully they won't fight later.

Re: Antsgeo - ants location on the world map

Wow. Really amazing job! Almost started doing a project like this to add to the wiki I recently started. I have some questions: How does this compare to: http://antmaps.org/ Why is it still using favicon from AngularJS? As I mentioned, I have recently created a wiki for ant keepers, and need somethi...

how to use insect-a-slip :?:
Personally never used it. I assume you apply it same way as any other barrier, with cotton ball.

Re: Brood

Oh, I did realize that. But camponotus Pennsylvanica are black, live in wood where I found them and have majors. The only difference is that when the other species hatched they were brown and had to harden their exoskeleton as Pennsylvanica is hardened in the cocoon. Sometimes even when it should w...

Re: Myrmica rubra

Do I wait till after the first eggs or fo I feed her straight away? Typically a semi-claustral work best in a small container, with her test tube in it, to forage for food until first workers appear. She needs protein for the larvae to eat. once a week is typical but depends on this specific specie...

Ant Keeping Wiki - Need Your Help

I have created a wiki to source GOOD information strictly toward ant keeping. I am aware of antwiki.org (and others), and how they are 100% science based. The main idea is to help hobbyists in the keeping and maintaining of ant colonies, from queen to full blow colony. Super easy to add data. Doesn'...
