Re: How do I make a lid for vivarium?

With most non tropical ants, which I believe you are keeping, a regular sideways barrier should be aqueadate. If you want to be extra safe, add two rings, one higher than the other, of your barrier. If you want to make a downward barrier, your best bet would be using tape and plastic sheets or 3D p...

Re: Camponotous Diet

Stick to diluted honey or sugar water for sugar, and feeder insects like the cricket leg for protein. This is a good diet, but consider also switching up their protein a bit by providing them with some other insects as well, like fruit flies.

I use the imgur app, upload photos, click them, select the share icon, copy the link to the clipboard, and then insert it into the image brackets. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Re: YsTheAnt's Camponotus Modoc Journal

Update #2 This colony seems to be slowing down, so I plan to put them into hibernation within the next two weeks. I added some sand as substrate, and they dug a chamber where they drop their larvae when I feed them (I have to move them around a bit). I fed them a piece of freeze dried mealworm, and ...

Re: Ant Identifications please help

Re: Mystery Insect

I caught some of these in my pool a while back thinking they were queens. The head and thorax are too closely joined to be a queen. If you look at pictures of a small carpenter bee, you will see the difference. And even then, ants have two antennae segments, bees and wasps have one curved one, which...
