Caught 3 queen carpenter ants here in Ontario from the same area. From watching videos I've seen many multi queen carpenter ant colonies.
Now I'm wondering, can I toss all three in a test tube? Will they fight?

Re: Hibernation
Hey Rus. Uk isn't tropical so I'd say yes the ant in question hibernates. Also I found an interesting article on them https://www.antkeepers.com/keeping-ants/care-sheets-species/care-sheet-lasius-niger/ Quote from article "Hibernation Lasius niger hibernates. This means they are used to not being ac...

Flying ants domestically
I was wondering if its okay to take my 7 month old Formica ants on a flight to the yukon from Ontario for the summer. They don't have ears so I'm not worried about any ruptured ear drums.
I'd leave them but have no one to watch them

Re: Weird white fuzz? What happened?
Yeah I disposed them a little while after making the post, can't be good to keep them around. I'm a little worried the others will be attacked by the same parasite

Weird white fuzz? What happened?
What happened to my queens? They were fine just a few days ago. I put them in a clean container, but now they all their joints are covered with some white fungus looking substance. Are the rest of my queen contaminated maybe?

Holding two species in the same Large omni nest vertical
Would it be possible to hold two different species in the same large omni nest vertical via constricting access to each others floor? Or would it stress them out being just a few millimeters apart and cause harm? Maybe slowly develope them from either end. Thoughts?
