ordered from most effective to least effective:
1. Insectaslip/fluon
2. dry baby powder applied with a dry cotton ball
3. baby powder plus rubbing alcohol applied very thinly with a paintbrush

I like the idea! similar to the water moat idea but more effective. Interested in how it works out long term, how many casualties, and power outages.

Options in order from least effective to most effective:

4.Vasaline-
3.Baby powder and alcohol mix applied with paintbrush
2.Dry baby powder applied with dry cotton ball
1.Fluon/Teflon/insectaslip


No. 2 is my favorite.

You should feed your colony as soon as the first worker arrives. Get a plastic drinking straw, cut off a piece about and inch and a half long. Welcome! Tetramorium is not polygene species. While they may tolerate each other for a while, it'll end poorly.

If you can, get her identified on the forum. Semi claustral queens are often confused with male drones.

rubbing alcohol +baby powder is less effective than plain dry baby powder applied with a dry cotton ball
