Re: First Worker No activity?

I never heard any thing on waiting for more workers on an outworld. Although you should make it small so the workers can actually find their food.(Ex. my camponotus colony had a huge out world and they did not find their food until a couple days later.) no i mean like should i wait for more workers...

Re: What type of ants should I start with?

I am new to ant keeping and was wondering which species of ant I should start with. Please tell me about a type of ant that is easy to care for, can grow their colonies fast, don't sting, and can be found near the bottom of California. It's fine if there isn't a perfect species, just tell me the be...

Peditiole bumps don't match
You have gotten an answer from the most experienced ant identification person (imo) and most experienced user on this forum. If you think batspiderfish is wrong, then perhaps you should try to get it ID'd at another forum.

what if you put a acrylic box that has drilled holes in the bottom that extends up above the top with a tube connected to it at the top. it would make a walk way for the ants up and you can also apply a barrier on the outside of the box.
Hmm could you sketch it out and take a pic?

Re: Rehydrating test tibe

Hello everyone- I have my ants overwintering in the refrigerator; I check them every few weeks, and today I noticed the water was very low in the test tube. How should I go about getting more water into the tube? Should I just set up a new test tube? Considering they shouldn't be bothered too much ...

Re: Too many mealworms!

I have a colony of 20 workers and I recently bought a pack of mealworms. There are too many mealworms and some of them have already started to change into beetles. Can somebody give me some advice please? Freeze them. Sick them in a mason jar and freeze them. Store them in the freezer, and then whe...

This question has been wandering my mind for I while. Does Mikey Bustos have an ant species named after him? (I would think so from all he does to help research for ants and ant keeping) :D
Nah, that generally only happens when someone discovers a new species. I'm pretty sure he hasn't done that.
